Arild Bergh
Arild Bergh is a senior researcher in the Total Defense department at the Norwegian Defence Research Establishment (FFI). He holds a PhD in Sociology from the University of Exeter. Prior to this, Bergh worked for 20 years as a database developer in the United Kingdom. These complementary skills are utilized in research on socio-technological issues that may affect Norway. Currently, he is working on propaganda, influence operations, and dis- and misinformation in digital domains such as social media, particularly in the context of national crises and total defense. The research focuses on understanding how hostile actors manipulate social media platforms, what they achieve, and how democracies can detect and address such activities. He is currently involved in a NATO project, assessing the online information environment.
